Overview
The translation of experimental discoveries into effective therapies requires models that accurately recapitulate cellular and tissue processes associated with human diseases. Our laboratory develops and applies organotypic liver models, including precision cut liver slices and tumour slices, to evaluate therapeutic strategies in a physiologically relevant environment. These models maintain multicellular interactions and tissue architecture, allowing the investigation of therapeutic responses directly in human liver tissue.
Objectives
- Evaluate the therapeutic efficacy of novel multipronged therapeutic approaches for steatotic liver disease
- Investigate the mechanisms of action of candidate therapies in human liver tissue
- Study therapeutic strategies targeting the tumour microenvironment in liver cancer
- Investigate therapeutic efficacy of treatments for intrahepatic cholangiocarcinoma
